Privacy Policy
- Your check-ins stay on your phone. We never see them.
- No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no trackers.
- We never sell or share your information with your employer or anyone else.
- The only things that leave your phone are what you choose to send: the optional AI guide chat, the anonymous feedback form, and the "Who have we missed?" form.
Who we are
Unladen is made by Co-Synthesist Pty Ltd (ACN 699 133 223), Newcastle NSW, Australia. This policy covers the Unladen website at unladen.com.au, every Unladen version at its subdomains (such as ward.unladen.com.au and rail.unladen.com.au), and the Unladen app on Google Play and other app stores.
We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Your check-ins stay on your device
Everything you enter in a check-in, including your answers, notes and history, is saved only in your phone's or browser's own storage. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see, read, recover or hand it over.
Because it lives only on your device:
- If you share your phone, use the optional PIN and the quick-hide button.
- If you clear your browser data, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app, your check-ins are deleted permanently. We have no backup copy.
- Your check-ins do not move between devices.
What we do not collect
- No accounts, names or logins.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and no cookies used for tracking.
- No location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone access.
What leaves your device, and only if you choose
The Unladen guide (AI chat)
The guide on the front page helps you find the right version. It is optional. If you use it, what you type is sent to an AI service, Claude, made by Anthropic, to generate a reply. Unladen does not keep your messages. Anthropic processes them under its own commercial terms and privacy policy, and may be located outside Australia.
Please do not type your name or anything that identifies you or anyone else. The guide is an AI: it can make mistakes and it is not a counsellor or an emergency service. You can report an unhelpful or inappropriate reply with the "Report this reply" button under each answer, or by emailing us. A report sends us only that reply and any reason you add.
Anonymous feedback forms
Each version has an optional feedback form. It does not ask for your name. What you write is stored by our website host and emailed to us so we can improve Unladen. Please do not include names or details that identify you or others.
"Who have we missed?"
If you suggest a new version, we receive your suggestion. Adding your email is optional; if you do, we use it only to tell you when that version is ready, and we delete it on request.
Website hosting
Unladen is hosted by Netlify. Like any website host, Netlify automatically processes basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect against abuse. Netlify is based in the United States. We do not use this information to identify you.
How we use and protect what we receive
- We use feedback, suggestions and reports only to run and improve Unladen.
- We never sell, rent or trade information, and never use it for advertising.
- We never share information with any employer, organisation or government agency, unless the law requires it.
- Access is limited to Co-Synthesist Pty Ltd, and information is sent over encrypted connections.
- We delete feedback when it is no longer needed to improve Unladen.
Overseas services
Our host (Netlify) and the AI service behind the guide (Anthropic) may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose established providers with their own privacy and security commitments.
Who Unladen is for
Unladen is intended for people aged 16 and over. It is not designed for children.
Unladen is not an emergency service
If you or someone else is in danger, call 000. For crisis support any time, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or text 0477 13 11 14.
Unladen is not therapy, a diagnosis or a medical service. It helps you notice how you are going and points you to support.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your check-ins: clear the app's storage, clear your browser data for unladen.com.au, or uninstall the app.
- Ask about or delete what we hold: email us (see how to delete your data). As feedback is anonymous, we may not be able to match it to you, but we will help where we can.
- Make a complaint: email us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Unladen handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change means more information leaves your device, we will say so clearly in the app before it applies.
